Hello, I am Goliathus, a Chinese from Malaysia. English is only my second language so pardon my grammar and bad vocabulary choice. I used to sucks at English before 13 years old, but getting into Proboard RP and writing have actually gotten me to today's level, which I am very proud of. And yes, I am nearing the 30 now so I have been RPing for more than a cycle of the Chinese Zodiacs. I am a hybrid who have played both PB freeform and tRPG rule-heavy setup and enjoyed both for different reasons. Though PB's RP structure has kind of spoiled me and I sometime find it hard to get into the typical party setup of a tRPG and that seems to be my biggest hindrance on that side so far. Another thing PB has spoiled me are the ever beautiful graphic one can do with code, those just aren't there on the tRPG sites.
I am a huge gamer and enjoy games of all form. While I believe I am a creative person, I sucks at singing(or anything related to music, really) and drawing. My drawing skill remains at the level of a kindergarten child, though my digital drawing(photoshop) skills are slightly better. Funnily, I used to do forum sigs with photoshop when I was around 14, guess I was naive about my potential back then. I am more of a book and film kind of guy, stories in written form. While I am more of the introvert otaku kind of guy, I am big fan of sports and I tend to research various sports. And I research many things, really, I like to learn. I have read science papers even though I am not from a science major.
In terms of RP, I tend to be flexible and inconsistent in what I like. There are some genres that I am into for a few years(or months) and then "nope!" for a period of time afterwards.

Fun having someone join us from the other side of the world hehe ^^ I also saw you LF post and I do have to say that I have no clue what tRPG sites are? xD I've always wanted to learn how to draw digitally, people can do such amazing things! I can hardly imagine me ever achieving this hehe.

Hey there! Just popping in to say hi. It's awesome to see so many PB veterans here! Sometime you'll have to share your photoshop skills with us. I like to dabble in photoshop too.
I would be interested to know if you play video games and if so which games are your favorite? I do a lot of PC gaming myself so I'm always looking for new and interesting game recommendations.
Also I must admit i'm with Velani on the tRPG. Any chance you could explain it to us?

tRPG sites are sites that run tabletop RPG systems, like Dungeons & Dragons, in a forum post-by-post format. The idea is that you don't have to play them on a table like you have to in the 80s or verbally through the internet(Roll20 being the primary client for that), but you can play it in written form like all PB RPs are. It also means that all games of a certain system are under an unified ruleset. For instance, there are many Pokemon sites on PBs and all of them have their own rules; but for every D&D game, they all follow the D&D rules so if you know D&D rules(there are many versions though, the latest is 5e), you can play in any game fro those sites.
Another difference is that those sites are closer to this site than the typical PB RP sites. GM usually post the game idea they want to run and players apply with application for that game. They then form a party and play. It's not an open board that sets the universe and environment and people can go around RPing with everyone. Think 1v1 RP here but in a 1v4 way, 1 GM and 4 players telling a story together from intro to ending.
As for video games, I play a lot and I like some genres more than the others but I consider myself quite a versatile gamer that plays all sorts of games. It's hard for me to pick a favorite though, I don't really connect with "This is the best game ever", so I can't say if I have an absolutely favorite. But if you can give me the genres you are interested in or what you have played and I can probably give some recommendations.

I was thinking that was what it stood for but I didn't want to assume. Do you play D&D in real life? I've always been meaning to get into it but numbers aren't my strong point. I feel like lately there has been a surge in PB to do number-based role plays too.
As for games I have a wide range as well. I don't do counsel games though so I'm probably missing out on a lot of good names but finances are tight. Any chance you've played the RE2 remake? If so i'd be curious to know what you thought of it.

I don't play D&D in real life because there are not many play groups in my country. Tabletop RPG just ain't a thing in my country, which leads me to online play. And as I am uncomfortable with verbal - did not need to speak English a lot here, so my verbal English is horrible - the best way for me to play is still PbP and so that is what I did. Depending on the type of GM you find, numbers might not be a big deal. If you watch Geek & Sundry's tRPG content by any chance, they don't put a deep focus on the numbers and do more on the narrative. On one hand, you have the one who play it closer to RPG video games and those do focus on numbers, so it's really how your playgroup turns out to be. Also, there are a lot of systems, some will have less numbers than others, but all of them have (at least) a book to read so you might feel like you are studying for becoming a lawyer if you play a lot of systems -- most people don't, a lot just stick to D&D and that's it. D&D is number-heavy though, as it was inspired by tabletop war game, which is number-heavy by default. I have seen PB sites with number-based rules since late-00s and I don't see a surge personally. Personally, I like having numbers because I think they provide a context to the situations. I have done statless battles on PB and it came down to the players and how they see it. Maybe they call a judge and so on if they do not agree. Numbers and written rules keep things consistent in a way, like if you have 20 HP and I hit you for 12, we can both see(by the number) and agree that you are heavily injured and you can RP as such.
I don't have the latest console either and my finance might be tighter than yours. I don't own a very good computer that can run the latest games so I just play more indie games nowadays than the AAAs. I did play RE2 remake at my friend's house. I give mad props for the 3D-fication in the reboot. This is the first time I see a reboot that did the extra work to modernize the game. Most just upgrade the graphic but the gameplay stays the same as they were long time ago. RE2 keeps the map and such, but truly modernized the gameplay mechanics.
